Every Ms. Congeniality fan knows that the best date is April 25th (because it’s not too hot, not too cold. All you need is a light jacket!).

Nothing beats the spring in southern Maine. It brings about the changing of the season after a long winter. For couples getting married March-June, the spring wedding season is full of mild sunny days, explosions of blooming flowers, and new beginnings. It’s no wonder this is a popular time of the year to exchange your vows.

Spring weddings have some of the best trends to choose from, it’s impossible to not get inspired with the romance and whimsy of the season.

Colors

Spring weddings are full of pastels and muted tones. Classic color combinations include sage green and grey or dusty rose and pewter. The pairing of colorful and neutral balances out nicely and is reminiscent of the colorful pops of the season. Stay away from dark, rich colors, which can look out of place at a spring fête.

Boutonnieres

Don’t leave the guys out! The grooms’ party can rock colorful buds on their boutonnieres.

Bouquet

Spring brides are certainly lucky with the flowers they get to choose from for bouquets. Peonies, tulips, roses, lilac, and lily of the valley are all in season (AKA more affordable). Wild, oversized, and loose bouquets are perfect for spring.

Cake

No offense to naked cakes, but not adorning your cake with fresh flowers and greenery is a missed opportunity. Also consider a cake featuring edible flowers or fruity cake flavors.

Centerpieces

By now you’re probably catching on that spring is all about the flowers. If opulent floral centerpieces aren’t your style an assortment of bud vases with stand alone flowers are a great alternative. And if you’re flowered-out at this point consider colored tapers, floating candles, or even fresh fruit, which can be great stand-ins for buds.

Seasonal Favors and Escort Card Holders

Favors and escort cards can sometimes double for each other. A packet of seeds with your guests’ names and table numbers written on them are a clever place card replacement. Succulents also make a great card holder and add a fun seasonal twist.

Signature Drink

Play into the themes of the season for your signature drink: fresh, floral, and playful. Feature flavors like lavender, honey, fruity liqueurs, and citrus.

Hydration is key in the warmer weather. For non-alcoholic options you can provide your guests with pitchers of water infused with different fruit combinations before the ceremony.

Utilize Outdoor Space

Spring is no time to be stuffed inside a hotel ballroom. Ensure your venue has ample outside space for the ceremony and reception. Grassy lawns and covered patios are a must. All about those garden party vibes? Providing lawn games for guests to play during cocktail hour.
